祝祭日・記念日の名前

無冠詞

Children's Day, Christmas Day, Easter (Day / Sunday), Father's Day, Independence Day, Mother's Day, New Year's Day, New Year's Eve, Thanksgiving Day, Washington's Birthdayなど

*「アメリカの独立記念日」をIndependence Dayというときは無冠詞ですが、the Fourth of Julyという言い方をするときは序数のルールに従ってtheがつきます。

競技大会の名前

the 〜

the Oaks, the Olympic Games / the Olympics, the Super Bowl, the World Cup, the World Seriesなど

* 競技が行われる場所の名前が競技大会の名前になっている場合には無冠詞です。

Henley (Henley Regatta)（国際ボートレース大会），Royal Ascot（競馬レース大会），Wimbledonなど

船の名前

the 〜

the Queen Elizabeth, the Soya, the Titanicなど

列車の名前

the 〜

the bullet train / the Shinkansen, the Metroliner, the Orient Expressなど

* 鉄道の路線名にはほとんどの場合theがつきます。

the IRT（ニューヨーク）, the Piccadilly Line（ロンドン）, the Yamanote Lineなど

* 鉄道会社名にはほとんどの場合theがつきます。

the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, the Grand Canyon Railwayなど

ただし、公営鉄道の場合には無冠詞です。

Amtrak（アメリカのNational Railroad Passenger Corporationの通称）, British Railなど

宇宙船の名前

無冠詞

Columbia, Skylab, Sputnik, Vostokなど
