半島の名前

一般的にthe ～

the Crimean Peninsula, the Iberian Peninsula, the Malay Peninsula the Upper Peninsulaなど

無冠詞

Baja California, Izu Peninsulaなど

* 単にthe Peninsulaといえば「イベリア半島」を表します。

平野・草原などの名前

the ～

the Kanto Plain, the Pampas, the Steppesなど

湖の名前

無冠詞

Lake Biwa, Lake Erie, Lake Michigan, Lake Ontario, Lake Superior, Lake Victoriaなど

例外 the Great Salt Lake

*「カスピ海」と「死海」は実体は湖ですが、広いためにSeaと呼ばれます。

the Caspian Sea, the Dead Sea

* スコットランドでは湖はLochといい、やはり無冠詞です。

Loch Lomond, Loch Nessなど

* グループとなった湖（複数形）はtheが必要です。
