無冠詞

Kennedy Airport, Heathrow (Airport), O'Hare International Airport, Tokyo International Airportなど

劇場・映画館・オペラハウスの名前

the ～

the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, the Gate（ロンドンの映画館）, the Royal Opera Houseなど

*「ロイヤル・オペラハウス」は愛称でCovent Gardenともいいますが、そのときは無冠詞になります。

* 人名を冠したものは無冠詞です。

Sadler's Wells Theatre, Carnegie Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hallなど

寺院・僧院の名前

無冠詞

St. Patrick's Cathedral, Westminster Abbeyなど

* the Dominican Abbeyのように、宗教団体に由来するものはtheがつきます。

大学の名前

一般的に無冠詞

California States University, Harvard University, Oxford University, Yale Universityなど

the ～（「University of ～」という形のもの）

the University of British Columbia, the University of California at Berkley, the University of Washingtonなど

* 省略形は無冠詞になります。

the University of California at Los Angeles → UCLA

*「Institute of ～」という形もtheをつけるものが多いようです。

the Massachusetts Institute of Technology（＝ MIT）

*「the University of ～」と「～ University」の両方の形をもつ大学も少なくありません（その場合「the University of ～」の方が正式の呼称になります）。

London University / the University of London, Tokyo University / the University of Tokyoなど

博物館・美術館・図書館の名前

the ～

the British Museum, the Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery, the Library of Congressなど

ホテルの名前

the ～

the Imperial Hotel, the New York Hilton, the Plaza, the Ritz, the Savoyなど

* Hotel Victoria, Hotel Presidentなどのように「Hotel ～」という形のものは無冠詞です。
