大陸の名前

無冠詞

Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Antarcticaなど

* North AmericaとSouth Americaをあわせた「南北アメリカ」はthe Americaといいます。

*「南極大陸」はContinentを用いた場合にはthe Antarctic Continentというようにtheが必要となります。

滝の名前

無冠詞

Niagara Falls, Victoria Fallsなど

例外 Yosemite National Parkにあるthe Nevada Fall, the Vernal Fallなど

地峡の名前

the ～

the Isthmus of Suez, the Isthmus of Panamaなど

* 単にthe Isthmusといえば「スエズ地峡」または「パナマ地峡」を表します。
